Typeface, 2021

I initiated this project because I was interested in what the letterforms made from dots would look like through the lens of a knitting chart, where dots are used as a symbol for the purl stitich, and because I thought it would be fun.

I haven’t always approached projects this way. In the past, I’ve gotten distracted thinking about what I should make, or I’ve gotten lost in the sauce thinking about the many forms I could use as a channel. But I liked the idea of a typeface created out of a series of holes, or zeros—sending the message that we’re able to make a visual language from seemingly nothing.
