Material as Mystery
MFA Thesis: Ideas, Design, Writing, 2021



A Nancy Drew-inspired MFA thesis that explores materials charged with human touch and humming with mystery. In other words, materials that introduce more questions than answers.

By examining themes such as textile arts, women in craft, machinery and programming, capitalism and big tech, my dead grandmas, and trying to find my place in the graphic design industry, this work explores what it means to resist tidy conclusions in both life and design, and instead embrace an anti-outcome process—one that invites uncertainty and lingers in ambiguity.
